Midnight Magic with Ariel Dawn

Welcome to another Midnight Magic author interview! This time, we're chatting with Ariel Dawn.

What's the title of your book in Midnight Magic?

Blood & Bones

Tell us a little bit about it!

College student Ava Crowley finds herself in a deadly situation, a victim of vampires. As she bleeds out on the concrete floor, an angel comes to her rescue. Only he’s no angel, and rescue comes in the form of a bite that will change both their lives forever. She soon discovers that monsters are everywhere, in the shadows, and in the sunlight; and she finds herself on a dangerous path of becoming a slayer.

What's your main character like?

Ava is a firecracker. She is sarcastic, witty, confident, headstrong. But she’s also young, (at least in this book) and just figuring out who she truly is and where she fits in. She’s a fighter, and likes to play with fire, has a passion for all things supernatural and paranormal (after all she is a descendant of the infamous Aleister Crowley).

Is it part of a bigger series or world?

Yes. Blood & Bones is the first book in the Ava Crowley, Vampire Slayer Series, which is a spinoff from the Forevermore Series. The second book in the Forevermore Series, In The Blood is where we meet Ava and the vampire who saved her life, Cassius Aurelia. The Ava Crowley Series tells their story from the beginning, the night Cassius saved her life, all the way up until the events of In The Blood.

Is there anything else you want to tell us about your book in Midnight Magic?

Yes. Like In The Blood, Blood & Bones pays homage to lots of pop culture. There’s tons of Supernatural references, as I am a HUGE Supernatural fan! For instance, Ava’s last name! While she is a descendant of Aleistar Crowley, her last name is also a nod to Mark Shephard’s character on Supernatural, just as our leading man Cassius, who goes by Cas—a nickname which is a direct reference to one of the inspirations for the character, Castiel from Supernatural. There’s also lots of influences from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Twilight, and more.

I don't know about you, but I love a good vampire slayer story and this one sounds amazing. Blood & Bones is available now, but will also be included in the multi-author anthology, Midnight Magic. You can grab your copy here: https://www.books2read.com/midnightmagic
